During our Euro trip, my friends and I decided to take a spontaneous night trip to Amsterdam from Den Haag. Dating back to 1306, this church-turned-gallery hosts contemporary art exhibitions that contrast sharply with its Gothic-style architecture. After exploring the art at Oude Kerk, we took a breather at Dam Square, the bustling center of Amsterdam. Known for its adult entertainment, including strip shows and peep shows, the district offers a look into a side of Amsterdam that many people hear about but don’t truly understand until they see it in person. As we wandered the streets with neon-lit windows and bold advertisements, my friends and I found ourselves wide-eyed, discussing how unique and different it was compared to anything we’d seen before.
